Hi, I am Diana! Founder, Principal Clinician and Clinical Supervisor of Empowered Minds, Wellness & Consultancy.
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician with a decades worth of clinical experience in the mental health sector working across a multitude of diverse population groups. Providing therapy and seeing individuals thrive honestly feeds my soul more than anything in this world!
I have worked clinically across the lifespan with a variety of mental health presentations from mild to severe, in rural, regional and metro Australia. My deep passion lays in supporting vulnerable young people who have found it difficult to find a service provider who can meet their unique needs, providing trauma therapy to those who have had adverse life experiences and providing an empathetic approach to treatment for individuals experiencing an eating disorder .
I am a proud mixed modality therapist! This means your treatment will always be tailored to your individual needs and desired outcomes - there is no, one size fits all approach here. My practice approaches are driven from my expertise in:
General Mental Health:
-Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
-Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
-Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) & EMDR for Attachment Injury
-Emotionally Focussed Therapy (deep child attachment healing)

Mental Health Counsellor
Mel Edwards
Hi, I’m Mel, Clinician of Empowered Minds, Wellness & Consultancy.
I am a Counsellor & Social Worker at Empowered Minds and in August 2026 I will celebrate my 10-year anniversary as a mental health worker! Over the last decade I have had the privilege of working with people as both an individual counsellor and a group facilitator. Helping people to understand the way their minds work and to develop tools and strategies to cope with the chaotic world we live in is my passion and I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else.
I am currently registered with the Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia and I am also registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers, I am on the cusp of applying for my mental health credentialing which will allow me to bill sessions via Mental Health Care Plans (watch this space).
I often draw upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles in my work with people and I have a special interest in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) after facilitating a 40-week DBT Program a few times over. In 2025 I completed training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E) and Compassion Focused Therapy. More recently I completed training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, which has been a dream of mine for years.
I am a late-diagnosed neurodivergent person, and I strive to provide neurodiversity affirming care; neurodivergence is not a problem to be solved and each of us have strengths, areas for growth and a right to the accommodations we require to flourish in our environment. I also thoroughly enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ people, drawing upon ‘Health at Every Size’ principles when working with body image concerns and I am fluent in Spoons Theory. My practice approaches are driven from my expertise in:
